Make a difference in the life of a homebound adult, and discover benefits for yourself. Volunteering reduces stress, keeps you mentally stimulated, and provides a new sense of purpose. Duet offers volunteer opportunities that fit with your schedule with neighbors in close proximity to you. You decide when, where, and how often you’d like to serve. Choose from the following services:
Shopping “for” or “with” someone once per week.
Sort mail, bill paying, insurance forms, etc. once per week/month.
Minor home repairs, completed in one or two visits.
Escort someone to medical appointment, once per week.
One visit per week for about 1 hour. Or two to three phone calls per week, ten minute conversations.
Assist homebound seniors with use of technology. Smart phones, computers etc.
Our interactive Services Map shows our waiting list of homebound adults who need caring volunteers – just like you. Each symbol represents an actual person who is currently waiting to get groceries, friendly visiting, or assistance with paperwork, or computer training.
Normally our highest demand for volunteer services is to provide grocery shopping assistance and transportation to medical appointments. (Note: transportation to medical appointments is not represented on the interactive map)
Once you become a registered volunteer with us, you will be matched with a neighbor in need.
To help a homebound neighbor, a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance is required. The cost of printing and obtaining a card is $73. The process is completed through DPS and Gemalto/Thales. After six months of active volunteering, Duet will refund you the cost of the card at your request. If you already have a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance, simply provide a copy for our records. If you are under 18, you may volunteer under the supervision of an adult with a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance.
