Discover Caregiving Excellence: Expert Insights from Dr. Frances Marcus Lewis and Amy Cameron O’Rourke

We have invited two remarkable speakers to help you discover practical strategies and tools to navigate your caregiving journey: Dr. Frances Marcus Lewis, Ph.D., the Endowed Professor of Nursing Leadership at the University of Washington Medical Center and an elected affiliate of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and Amy Cameron O’Rourke, MPH, CMC, author and a featured speaker at TEDxOrlando, whose expertise has been showcased in numerous articles, TV shows, and radio broadcasts.

Registration for this year’s Annual Virtual Family Caregiver Symposium will be available in August.

Dr. Frances Marcus Lewis, Ph.D.

For over 25 years, Frances Marcus Lewis has committed her career to describing, statistically modeling, and designing behavioral interventions to enhance the well-being of patients, caregivers, spouse-partners, and dependent children in families. She holds a Masters of Nursing from the University of Washington, as well as a Masters in Sociology and a Ph.D. in Sociology of Education from Stanford University.

Lewis’ research, initiated in the 1980s, has evolved to focus on helping families thrive amid the challenges of advanced-stage cancers. As the Endowed Professor of Nursing Leadership at the University of Washington Medical Center and an elected affiliate of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Lewis is at the forefront of shaping compassionate and effective care practices.

Her symposium presentation, Taking Care: Walking the Caregiver Journey with Light and Love, focuses on changes in spouse-partner relationships when one becomes the caregiver to the other.


Amy Cameron O’Rourke, MPH, CMC

Amy Cameron O’Rourke is a dedicated care manager with a passion for helping people and their loved ones find peace and joy as they age. She is the founder of O’Rourke & Associates and The Cameron Group, a care management company. O’Rourke holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health and a Master’s Certificate in Gerontology. Additionally, she is a licensed nursing home administrator and a certified care manager.


With over 40 years of experience, including two decades operating The Cameron Group, O’Rourke has established herself as a leading authority in aging and caregiving. She has been a featured speaker at TEDxOrlando in 2012 and 2015, and her expertise has been showcased in numerous articles, TV shows, and radio broadcasts. Her book, The Fragile Years, published in 2021, embodies her belief that our elder years offer a beautiful opportunity for connection, meaning, and joy.


O’Rourke’s presentation for the symposium, The Fragile Years, promises valuable insights into caring for aging loved ones, regardless of their living situation, and navigating familial conflicts with compassion and understanding.
