Help A Homebound Adult “Neighbor”
Thanks to hundreds of volunteers across the Valley, Duet is able to bring help and hope to homebound adults facing challenges related to aging or other health issues. It takes as little as a couple hours a month to make a true difference in the life of a homebound adult, affectionately referred to as “neighbor.”
We match volunteers with neighbors within close proximity of each other.
It’s so easy to find someone you can help!
Our interactive Services Map shows our waiting list of homebound adults who need caring volunteers – just like you. Each symbol represents an actual person who is waiting to get groceries, friendly visiting, or assistance with paperwork, or computer training.
Once you become a registered volunteer with us, you will be matched with a neighbor in need. All Duet volunteers will obtain an Arizona Level 1 Fingerprint clearance before they are eligible to get matched.
Volunteer orientations are held at the Duet office, Mariposa room, at 10000 North 31st Avenue, Phoenix, AZ, 85051. At this time, we ask all individuals who visit the Duet office (vaccinated and unvaccinated) to wear a face mask.
Duet staff continue to ensure that cleanliness standards per CDC guidelines are maintained throughout the office. Our office and meeting rooms are equipped with continuously running HEPA air filters. Learn more about our reopening safely guidelines.
To learn more about attending a volunteer orientation, see the calendar listings below.
Normally our highest demand for volunteer services is to provide grocery shopping assistance and transportation to medical appointments. (Note: transportation to medical appointments is not represented on the interactive map)

HOW TO GET STARTED
We invite you join us and make a difference in someone else’s life. It’s easy to begin.
Become a Duet Volunteer
To get started volunteering with Duet, RSVP for an orientation or email volunteer@duetaz.org.
Services are provided ONLY in Phoenix, Glendale, Peoria, Paradise Valley, Fountain Hills and Scottsdale (South of Bell). People who ask for help are usually located in the Central to Southern parts of those cities.
Thank you for wanting to help your neighbor!
Requirements
To become a Duet volunteer, you must be able to qualify for a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance. If you are under 18, you may volunteer but you must be under the supervision of an adult with a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance. The total cost for having printing done and obtaining fingerprint card is $73. The process is completed through DPS and Gemalto/Thales. After six months of active volunteering, Duet will refund the cost of the card to you at your request. Information and instructions will be provided via email.
If you already have a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance, you will need to provide a copy of the card for our records.
Many of our volunteers work full-time jobs – so most services are flexible enough to be done in the evening or on weekends, around a volunteer’s schedule.
