Help A Homebound Adult “Neighbor”

Thanks to hundreds of volunteers across the Valley, Duet is able to bring help and hope to homebound adults facing challenges related to aging or other health issues. It takes as little as a couple hours a month to make a true difference in the life of a homebound adult, affectionately referred to as “neighbor.”

We match volunteers with neighbors within close proximity of each other.

It’s so easy to find someone you can help!

Our interactive Services Map shows our waiting list of homebound adults who need caring volunteers – just like you. Each symbol represents an actual person who is waiting to get groceries, friendly visiting, or assistance with paperwork, respite, or computer training.

Remember, you must be a registered volunteer with us to be matched with someone.

Our highest demand for volunteer services is to provide grocery shopping and transportation to medical appointments.
(Note: transportation to medical appointments is not represented on the interactive map)

HOW TO GET STARTED
We invite you join us and make a difference in someone else’s life. It’s easy to begin.
Orientations
To get started volunteering with Duet, the first step is to attend an orientation. Orientations are held monthly and attendance at the full orientation is required. An RSVP is needed so we can be prepared and have enough materials for the number attending.

To register for an orientation, click on your date of choice below and click the RSVP form.

Requirements

To become a Duet volunteer, you must be able to qualify for a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance. If you are under 18, you may volunteer but you must be under the supervision of an adult with a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance. Fingerprinting is done at a Fieldprint location. Information and instructions will be provided at orientation. If you already have a Level 1 clearance card please bring the card with you.

If you are volunteering to transport a homebound neighbor, you must be over 18 with a valid driver’s license and car insurance. Many of our volunteers work full-time jobs – so most services are flexible enough to be done in the evening or on weekends, around a volunteer’s schedule.

OTHER WAYS TO VOLUNTEER AT DUET
There are still plenty of ways to help Duet even if you’re not looking to volunteer one-on-one with a neighbor. These opportunities do not require a volunteer orientation. To learn more about these additional volunteer opportunities, give us a call at (602) 274-5022 and indicate the area you are interested in volunteering.
Office
Duet can always use help with general office tasks, such as answering phone calls, mailing letters, and more.
Outreach
Help inspire the community to volunteer, donate, and ask for help. Duet utilizes volunteer outreach ambassadors and liaisons to contact and engage organizations, congregations, individuals and other entities for support and partnerships.
Special Events
If you like to have fun and help others at the same time, volunteering at a Duet event is the place for you. Events include Discover Duet, Arizona Gives Day, Poinsettia Tea and more. We also need volunteers for service events for grandfamilies and family caregivers.
