More about the Foundations of Faith Community Nursing Course:

  • Based on comprehensive, interactive, and interfaith curriculum developed through the International Parish Nurse Resource Center (IPNRC), Church Health Center, 1210 Peabody Ave., Memphis, Tennessee 38104. www.parishnurses.org
  • Duet is approved by the IPNRC to offer the standardized curriculum
  • Only classroom-based program in Arizona and much of the Southwest
  • Teaches experienced RNs how to provide holistic health care to members of a faith community
  • 38 Contact hours, hybrid of in class and on line coursework are provided

Content includes:

  • Theology of healing and the faith community’s role in spiritual assessment and caregiving
  • Parish/faith community nurse’s role in worship and prayer
  • Roles of a parish/faith-community nurse
  • Developing a faith-based health and wellness program
  • Legal, ethical and scope of practice issues
  • Community assessment and resources
  • Health promotion and wellness
  • Self-nurturing and boundary setting strategies
  • Grief counseling and bereavement support
  • Family violence
  • Dedication service at the end of the course

Powerful Tools for Caregivers

Powerful Tools for Caregivers is an educational program designed to help family caregivers take care of themselves while caring for a relative of friend.

This is a six week program beginning Saturday, October 11 through Saturday, November 15, 2014, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Duet.

Family Caregiver Symposium

Join Duet on November 2 as we gather with expert panelists during National Caregiver Month to share with caregivers how to navigate physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being through periods of high stress.

The symposium is comprised of two separate sessions. The morning session is designed for all family caregivers and professionals. CE’s for registered nurses have been approved by the Western Multi-State Division, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho and Utah Nurses Associations are members of the Western Multi-State Division.

CE’s have been approved for social workers from the National Association of Social Workers – Arizona Chapter.

CE’s have been approved for nursing care and assisted living facility managers and administrators through the Board of Examiners of Nursing Care Institution Administrators and Assisted Living Facility Managers.

Duet Senior Health Resource Expo

Join us and take an active role in your health and well-being. This FREE event will feature exhibitors providing valuable health and wellness information, assessments, chair massages, door prizes, as well as educational classes.
