Linda Coughenour, President

Linda Coughenour is the Director of Consumer Affairs and SRP’s Hearing Officer for unresolved customer disputes. She has held this position for 27 years of her 34 year tenure at SRP. Linda holds an MBA from Arizona State University, majoring in Management and Conflict Resolution and a B. S. degree in Business Administration and Consumer Affairs from Buffalo State College in New York. She is an active member of the United States Ombudsman Association (USOA), the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR), the International Ombudsman Association (IOA), and the Arizona Dispute Resolution Association (ADRA). Linda has served on various Community Board of Directors , is a graduate of Scottsdale Leadership and also a Deacon at Pinnacle Presbyterian Church in Scottsdale.

Patricia Park, President Elect

Patty has over 24 years of experience in the financial services industry. She is Vice President of The Northern Trust Company. She currently provides comprehensive and issue-oriented planning services to high net worth individuals covering a wide range of topics. Before joining Northern Trust, Patty was Director of Financial Planning at Keats, Connelly & Associates. She has also been an instructor in the Certified Financial Planner™ program at the University of Phoenix.

Mary Lou Bessette, Secretary

Mary Lou Bessette retired after three careers: senior news and general management executive in metropolitan media markets, including the Arizona Republic; small business owner; and, most recently, entrepreneurial education at ASU’s W. P. Carey School of Business. Her civic leadership involves chairing boards of directors that include the Arizona and Tempe chambers of commerce, the Economic Club of Phoenix, the Phoenix chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners and Arizona Women’s Education and Employment. She was board president of the ATHENA International Foundation which fosters women’s leadership worldwide. She led Arizona’s delegation to the last White House Conference on Small Business and now occasionally coaches aspiring entrepreneurs.

Matthew Klandrud, Treasurer

Matthew Klandrud has over 9 years of experience in the financial services industry. He began his career preparing taxes for businesses and individuals and sat on the investment committee with a startup financial firm in the valley. During 2007 he joined Thrivent Financial where he is a Lead Financial Consultant, focusing on retirement income distribution, wealth transfer, asset and family protection. He is currently involved with multiple nonprofit organizations ranging from Duet, to Gethsemane School, and Habitat for Humanity.

Wilma Basnett Emerson

Wilma’s career in public education as a teacher, principal and curriculum director in Parma, Ohio brought her to Phoenix as assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction in the Osborn School District in central Phoenix in 1986 becoming superintendent in 1988. She has a Bachelor in Elementary Education from Bowling Green State University, a Master of Education in Administration from Kent State University, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Akron. Named Superintendent of the Year for mid-sized districts in 2008-2009, when she retired in 2014, she had the distinction of being the longest serving district superintendent in Arizona having served as Superintendent of the Osborn School District for 26 years.
Community service has always been important to Wilma. She is a charter member of the Osborn School District Educational Foundation, founded in 1986. A Rotarian since 1993, she served as the first woman president of her club in 1998 and in 2005 as the first woman District Governor of Rotary District 5490 overseeing 40 clubs in northwestern Arizona. She served as a DUET board member from 2008 to 2014 and as chair of the DUET Cabaret fundraiser for three years, 2015-2017. A life-long learner, in 2016 she completed a two-year docent training program at the Phoenix Art Museum and now enjoys leading tours at the museum and presenting talks to schools and community groups.

Ramsey Bergeron

Ramsey Bergeron has a diverse background, owning and operating businesses in both the entertainment and fitness industries as well as being a professional tv and commercial actor. He founded Ramsey the Great DJ Productions in 2001 in Memphis TN and after moving to Arizona in 2005, has performed and helped coordinate over 800 events. As a certified personal trainer for over a decade, he also owns Bergeron Training and has clients ranging in age from 12 to 95. In the past he has also taught senior fitness classes at local retirement communities. To help motivate his clients to achieve success, in 2016 he founded Bergeron Adventure Travel, leading his clients, friends and others on multiple day excursions on the Inca Trail in Peru, the Milford Track in New Zealand, and is slated to trek the Lysefjord in Norway in 2018. His fitness background led him to serve as a spokesperson for EAS Sports Nutrition from 2015 – 2017. As an actor, Ramsey has starred in local and national tv commercials as well as major motion pictures.

Nikky Brooks

Nikky Brooks has been in the Compensation and Benefits field for over 10 years with UnitedHealth Group, Cargill, and Target prior to her current role at APS. She has a Master’s degree in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, and a B.S. degree in Finance from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Nikky has worked with several non-profits in the fundraising and event planning space and was part of the Target employee volunteer council leadership teams in both Minnesota and Arizona partnering corporate resources with non-profits in need of volunteer services.

Ellen Dean

Ellen has a comprehensive practice that offers general financial planning and insurance services. She is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and a Registered Investment Advisor Representative. She offers professionally managed investment alternatives primarily using an asset allocation and financial planning methodology. She has been affiliated with Raymond James Financial Services (RJFS) since 2001. Prior to her career in Financial Services, Ellen spent 20 years as an executive in the healthcare field. This experience has proven to be invaluable as she helps her clients navigate decisions for life, health, disability, and long term care insurance. Her educational background includes a Masters of Health Administration and a Bachelor of Science from the Arizona State University College of Business. She has an Associate Degree in Applied Science from Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, New York.

Natalia Espinoza

Natalia Espinoza attended CSU Sacramento graduating with a BA in Anthropology and Minor in Education. She received a Master’s Degree in Bilingual Education. She taught for 32 years. She is now a grandmother raising her grandson and has dedicated her life to this child.

Carol Heimann

Carol Heimann currently is a faith community nurse. She has been an active participant in Duet’s faith community nursing activities for the last seven years. She attended Duet’s Basic Preparation Course, served as a Duet Outreach Liaison and participated in monthly peer support meetings. Also, Carol is a long-time volunteer for Planned Parenthood of Arizona, P.E.O. and The Alliance of the American Dental Association.

Stacey Johnson

Stacey Johnson serves as an attorney at Fennemore Craig. She focuses her practice on assisting persons responsible for managing another’s personal or financial matters, including family members, licensed fiduciaries, corporate trustees or those nominated in estate planning documents. She represents individuals or businesses responsible for estate and trust administration as well as guardianships, and conservatorships for adults, personal injury settlements for minors and adult adoptions. Her practice also includes litigation in all areas of estate and probate law. She serves as Arizona Chapter President of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and participates on the Maricopa Elder Abuse Prevention Alliance.

John Kearns

John Kearns is the President of Ringler Associates. He has been actively involved with the Church of the Beatitudes for over 15 years. John and his wife Sharon enjoy promoting Duet at every opportunity.

Bob Roth

With over 32 years of consumer products, health care and technology experience, Bob Roth is considered an innovator in enhancing communication and effectively supporting customers and clients. In 1994, Bob assisted his family in creating Cypress HomeCare Solutions. As a leading home care business in Phoenix, Cypress is dedicated to providing the highest quality in compassionate home care services to families with loved ones that are chronically ill, disabled or aging. Bob is currently Managing Partner for Cypress HomeCare Solutions, a position he has held since December 2003. Bob and his wife Susie have three daughters. Bob is a graduate of Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management, and a minor in Marketing. Bob played collegiate lacrosse for Ithaca College.

Bill Tabinsky

After a thirty-five year career in the insurance business, Bill retired as a Regional President with OneBeacon Insurance responsible for insurance operations in twenty-eight states. Prior to joining OneBeacon, he spent thirty-two years with the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies retiring as a Managing Director/Senior Vice-President responsible for creating and running the Marsh Brokerage Unit, a nationwide branch office network dedicated to handling all of the business for Chubb’s largest customer. Since retirement, Bill now spends his time traveling the world with his wife of forty-four years Kathy, out of their base in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Sandi Terry

Sandi Terry is the former Senior Manager of Financial Operations for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona. She has a B.S. from Arizona State University and has lived in Arizona for more than 40 years. Sandi has served Duet in various volunteer roles since 2003. She also serves as a Board Member of the Arizona Quality Alliance.

Stu Turgel

Stu Turgel retired in 2013 as President and CEO of the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Phoenix after more than forty years of leadership. Stu has led healthcare, biomedical research and community foundation organizations to raise nearly $1 billion. He has taught board governance at ASU’s Lodestar Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Innovation. He serves as the External Affairs Consultant to Denver-based Dental Lifeline Network. Stu has served as Chair of the Northeast Maricopa Regional Partnership Council of First Things First, the Arizona Early Childhood Development and Health Board. He is a community outreach volunteer for the Arizona Talking book Library. He serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arizona Community Media Foundation. He is also a volunteer with Greater Phoenix SCORE: “Counselors to America’s Small Business.” Stu is the host and producer of THE PHOENIX FILE, a weekly public affairs program broadcast on Radio Phoenix which features the people and programs making a positive difference on the quality of life in the Phoenix area.

Karen Vanaskie

Karen Vanaskie currently serves as Care Management Program Director for Scottsdale Health Partners. Her extensive experience in health care includes acute care settings, home health, multi-specialty medical groups, independent physician associations, and managed care organizations. Her vast healthcare experience spans over 30 years. Karen has spent her nursing leadership career developing multiple case management programs, serving as chief nursing officer, and building clinically integrated care programs for ACO’s. Karen’s formal education includes earning a Baccalaureate Degree in the Science of Nursing (B.S.N.), a Master’s Degree in the Science of Nursing (M.S.N.), and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice (D.N.P).

Paula Wright

Paula Wright is the Associate State Director, Community Outreach with AARP Arizona. She works as a member of the state team in collaboration with the national office to promote AARP’s strategic issues, priorities, programs and activities for the Phoenix Metropolitan area. Additionally, she manages the Enhanced Community Presence Program designed to strengthen visibility and awareness of AARP’s presence in local communities. Paula has over 20 years of service in non-profit and government sectors working with diverse populations in the fields of aging services, child welfare, behavioral health and hospice. Her extensive skill set includes program implementation and management, community outreach and volunteer resource management. Paula holds a Organizational Sociology and a Master of Public Administration from Grand Canyon University. She’s also certified in Volunteer Administration. She currently serves on the Governor’s Commission on Service and Volunteerism, and is a recipient of the Lucia Causey Excellence in Volunteer Management award for her outstanding work in Maricopa County. She’s a member of the Global Network of Expressive Arts Facilitators and in her free time, her passions include traveling, drumming, hiking, Christ-centered yoga, music and dance.

Nancy Zikias

Nancy Zikias served as National Accounts Manager of Altria Group Distribution Company from 2003 through 2017. Nancy. Zikias served as a Unit Manager of Philip Morris USA Inc., wholly-owned operating company of Altria Group Inc. since January 1989 where she had been responsible for managing wholesale and retail businesses. She was named to her Altria post in June 1994. Nancy provided oversight to Altria’s other operating companies, U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company and John Middleton, as well as Altria Sales & Distribution. Nancy has extensive experience with consumer-packaged goods, brand management and sales as well as significant leadership experience that benefited the company’s state-of-the-art Manufacturing operations. Under her leadership, Altria’s operating companies built strong relationships with adult consumers and the trade (wholesalers and retailers) to responsibly and profitably grow market share of their brands. As part of this effort, Altria Sales & Distribution calls on more than 250,000 retail stores monthly to enhance Altria’s operating companies’ brands in a focused and responsible way. Active in the community, Nancy serves on the outreach committee for Scottsdale Mountain HOA, Volunteer committee at St Bernard’s and is active with the National Women’s Networking Committee.
