Join us for this two-part series on Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How to Obtain Guardianship and Conservatorship, presented by local attorney Christina Stoneking. This series will explore the process of obtaining Guardianship and Conservatorship for children with Developmental Disabilities or Special needs who will require a Guardian when they turn 18 years old to legally make their medical and daily care decisions. The series will also cover how Guardianship is also appropriate for other adult family members who become incapacitated and can no longer make medical decisions and living arrangements for themselves.
The difference between Guardianship and Conservatorship will be discussed, and how for many families the two legal processes go hand in hand. Participants will be guided on how to locate the forms to file with the Court, the Court’s process, and the ongoing compliance required by the Court. Participants will also learn about the necessity of a Conservatorship through Maricopa Superior Court when a person under Guardianship possesses more than $10,000 in assets. To participate, you will need a computer, tablet, or smart phone with a camera and sound capabilities. Duet staff are available to assist you with setup prior to the meeting.
