But in today’s society, children seem to become adults overnight and they often make decisions about drugs, sexuality, and violence before they understand consequences. It’s more important than ever that parents and teens build strong relationships and learn skills to handle the challenges that lie ahead. Let’s come together to become skilled in effective communication, identify risky situations, and break down any barriers for a healthy and strong relationship. This workshop is for grandparents raising grandchild and other kinship caregivers.

Join a group of fellow family caregivers to discuss how to regain hope and build resilience when dealing with the complexities of ongoing loss associated with caring for someone with dementia. In Duet’s Finding Meaning and Hope series, you will learn skills to help you stay strong, healthy, resilient, and positive as you navigate your caregiving journey with healing and hope. This 10-week discussion series features videos based on the groundbreaking book, Loving Someone Who Has Dementia: How to Find Hope While Coping with Stress and Grief by Pauline Boss, Ph.D, a leading expert on caregiver grief. It is built on solid research and years of practical experience, and it offers real help in dealing with the challenges, losses, and rewards of being a family caregiver of someone who is, or is becoming, psychologically absent.
This group will meet in person and comply with COVID-19 precautions – social distancing, requiring face masks, disinfecting meeting room before and after meeting, and hand sanitizing.

Have you ever thought, “I wish I could …” but brushed it away because you are a caregiver? Your plate is full, and it seems there’s no room for anything more.
What if I told you dreaming is possible for you? Not only is it possible, but making space to aspire and develop new interests actually can make you a healthier and better caregiver. Join caregivers just like you to learn just how to do that.
Imagine new hopes and dreams is one of the guidelines Dr. Pauline Boss, PhD, endorses for the caregiving journey. It can be difficult to get in touch with that aspect of your identity when you’re immersed in tending to your loved one.
Join us in this workshop run by Rebekah Keizer. We’ll discuss the steps to discover interests that can excite you, and learn strategies to overcome obstacles. We’ll start with fun activities to launch the process. Then, we’ll get you to design an action plan to carry out after the workshop. Join us for this fun and important workshop.

There’s no denying it: Parents and teens are often at odds. But in today’s society, children seem to become adults overnight and they often make decisions about drugs, sexuality, and violence before they understand consequences. It’s more important than ever that parents and teens build strong relationships and learn skills to handle the challenges that lie ahead. Let’s come together to become skilled in effective communication, identify risky situations, and break down any barriers for a healthy and strong relationship. This workshop is for grandparents raising grandchild and other kinship caregivers.

As our virtual Bingo nights have been such a hit with our grandfamilies in the past, we are doing it again! To play, you will need a device such as a smartphone, laptop, or tablet with video and microphone capability so that we can see and hear you. Space is limited and reservations are required. Once you’ve reserved your spot, we will email you a link that you will use to join our event, as well as four playing cards and the rules and guidelines. We suggest using beans, buttons, Cheerios, or pennies for your markers – nothing permanent – so that you can play multiple games. Have fun creating a Bingo poster to display as your shout-out. Winners will receive prizes in the mail.
