With the support of a generous grant from Dignity Health®, Duet is proud to present the Fall 2022 Foundations of Faith Community Nursing course. The Fall 2022 course is a five day, hybrid course taking place in late September/early October. It will be offered on a virtual platform. The course is based on the curriculum developed through the Westberg Institute for Faith Community Nursing, a ministry of Church Health Center.

The total cost of the fingerprinting and clearance is $73 which can be reimbursed by Duet after 6 months of active volunteering. If you already have a Level 1 clearance Card please bring it with you so we may make a copy.

Presented by Lisa McCormick. Kinship Care Services is presenting a series of workshops aimed at helping caregivers understand and mitigate trauma caused by Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).

Session 1: We will help you build a better understanding of Childhood Trauma and Stress will go over what ACEs are, how frequent and common they are, and how childhood trauma and stress is impacting the children we care for in today’s society.
Session 2: We will discuss toxic stress and trauma informed care approaches.
Session 3: We will discuss ways to promote resiliency through recognizing and promoting it within yourself and loved ones by using a strengths-based approach.

We have seen many caregivers mourn the loss of their loved ones, which has prompted us to offer a new group for you who have entered the next phase – a grief support group.

Our facilitator is Rev. James Meadows. Jim also participates in Duet support groups as he is a caregiver for his wife. His experience as a caregiver, as well as a counselor, combined with his introspective and reflective demeanor, render him an empathetic group facilitator.

The grief group, like all Duet services, is non-sectarian. The meetings are in-person, the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month, 10 – 11:30 a.m., at the Duet office, 10000 N. 31st Ave., Suite D200, Phoenix. The first meeting will be held August 26. Kinship Care Services is offering Kids Day Out in the community at a miniature horse camp. Pack the kids a lunch then drop them off to come hangout with Miss. B and Miss. Daisy while you take a break. Go to brunch, catch a movie, take a nap, see a friend – spend the time doing something for yourself. We’ll entertain the kids with a hands-on therapeutic horse experience and provide the picnic atmosphere and fun. Check out their website for more information and pictures, Miniature Horse Camp. The kinship team has been background-checked with fingerprint clearance cards on file, and are CPR and first-aid certified. Space is limited, reservations are required, and child (ren) must be toilet-trained to participate.

When: Saturday, October 15
Time: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Where: Miniature Horse Camp: 2261 East Escondido Place, Gilbert, AZ 85234
Cost: $5 per child (horse camp experience and childcare). There is a late charge of $1 for every five minutes after 1 p.m.

Presented by Lisa McCormick. Kinship Care Services is presenting a series of workshops aimed at helping caregivers understand and mitigate trauma caused by Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).

Session 1: We will help you build a better understanding of Childhood Trauma and Stress will go over what ACEs are, how frequent and common they are, and how childhood trauma and stress is impacting the children we care for in today’s society.
Session 2: We will discuss toxic stress and trauma informed care approaches.
Session 3: We will discuss ways to promote resiliency through recognizing and promoting it within yourself and loved ones by using a strengths-based approach.

When: Wednesdays, October 12, 26, and November 9

We have seen many caregivers mourn the loss of their loved ones, which has prompted us to offer a new group for you who have entered the next phase – a grief support group.

Our facilitator is Rev. James Meadows. Jim also participates in Duet support groups as he is a caregiver for his wife. His experience as a caregiver, as well as a counselor, combined with his introspective and reflective demeanor, render him an empathetic group facilitator.

The grief group, like all Duet services, is non-sectarian. The meetings are in-person, the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month, 10 – 11:30 a.m., at the Duet office, 10000 N. 31st Ave., Suite D200, Phoenix. The first meeting will be held August 26. Please contact Janet Richards f you are interested in attending at richards@duetaz.org.

Event Details

Orientation for Volunteers to provide services to home bound adults. Please bring your drivers license for ID. A Level 1 Fingerprint clearance is required to volunteer and instructions for obtaining this will be provided at orientation. The total cost of the fingerprinting and clearance is $73 which can be reimbursed by Duet after 6 months of active volunteering. If you already have a Level 1 clearance Card please bring it with you so we may make a copy.
