Foundations of Faith Community Nursing
- Based on comprehensive, interactive, and interfaith curriculum developed through the International Parish Nurse Resource Center (IPNRC) Wehrli Center, 475 East Lockwood Avenue, Saint Louis, Missouri 63119. www.parishnurses.org
- Duet is approved by the IPNRC to offer the standardized curriculum
- Only classroom-based program in Arizona and much of the Southwest
- Teaches experienced RNs how to provide holistic health care to members of a faith community
- Contact hours are provided
- Offered as a 5-day course in the spring and again in the fall
Content includes:
- Theology of healing and the faith community’s role in spiritual assessment and caregiving
- Parish/faith community nurse’s role in worship and prayer
- Roles of a parish/faith-community nurse
- Developing a faith-based health and wellness program
- Legal, ethical and scope of practice issues
- Community assessment and resources
- Health promotion and wellness
- Self-nurturing and boundary setting strategies
- Grief counseling and bereavement support
- Family violence
- Dedication service at the end of the course
